Unit Name: PatternsCommon Core State Standards:4.OA.5 Generate a number or shape pattern that follows a given rule. Identify apparent features of the pattern that were not explicit in a rule itself. Essential Vocabulary:· Pattern (number or shape) · Pattern rule Unit Overview:In this unit, students will apply their understanding of patterns with numbers and shapes from previous grades. In addition, this unit builds upon students’ understanding of multiples and factors in order for students to see the patterns and form a rule. Strategies/Skills:Students will build on their understanding of multiples, factors, and geometry to make sense of patterns.
